Quick question,

I am trying to find the ideal spot to install my new heat pump.

Best place is currently about 30 feet away from my pool pump.

I was told this is way too far by my installation guy.

He says i should move it to 12 feet away (another location which is my 2nd choice)

What do you think?

PS : 1HP pool pump (new) and 95k btu heat pump

Dear Mr. Degrasse:
Thank you for writing to me. I hope that you and your family are well. Sorry about the delay in repaying to you. You can put the heater 30 feet away. You lose about 5% of your heat for every 15 to 20 feet of pipe. If you can find some industrial large pipe insulation for your PVC pool pipe I am sure that it would cut the heat lose to close to zero. I have only seen a couple of people do that in the last few years though. We try to put the heat pump as close to the pool equipment as possible. There are plenty of heat pumps out there 50 feet away from the equipment but I would rather you put it 12 feet away if you can.
