Got an AO error is my heater. Had a guy come out. He spun the blower fan manually with a screwdriver and it started fine. He said my fans bad and tried to talk me into a new heater. Question is how do I know it’s not the vacuum switch causing the issue and the guy was lying? How could he manually spin the fan and it worked? Obviously the fan works, so is it the capacitor thing on the side of it that’s bad? Or do I truly need to replace the whole entire fan? Thanks

Easy to replace the capacitor and see if that solves the issue.  Next would be replacing the fan motor.  Best to explore both of those options before buying a new heater, unless the heater is more than 15 years old.
