My heater is not heating water.  Cold air blowing out of the top and excess condensation, everything else seem to be working.... those are my only clues. Any advice?

Jay, if cold air is blowing from the top, that implies the unit has refrigerant and that the compressor is working.  That would seem to point the finger at the heat exchanger or a connection to the heat exchanger.

Here are a few things that you can do to check it:

1) Check that your heat pump is getting sufficient water flow
2) Free your evaporator coil from all obstructions
3) Check the air temperature

If, after you have performed these checks, you still feel uncomfortable about your heat pumps operation, contact your licensed heat pump professional.
